It’s almost a month out from the 2017 show season being in full swing and I’m starting to get antsy…
The plan as of right now is to attend The Gray Door Market in East Bend, NC for the first Friday and Saturday of May (5th and 6th). The Barn in Harrisonburg, VA for the 2nd weekend of May (13th and 14th). And Hopefully, The Augusta County Antique Expo in Fishersville, VA for the 3rd weekend of May (19th, 20th, & 21st).
Now, I am 110% aware of how… Ambitious… doing 3 back-to-back shows is and depending on how much inventory I have after show 1 and show 2, show 3 may or may not happen. The Gray Door Market and The Barn are 100% already on the books.
I’m still building up the stock pile but will it be enough inventory for even 2 shows? Not to mention having to keep a booth space stocked up.. I’m doing a piss-poor job of that right now. I’m excited/nervous, only because I’ve never had to travel to do show. It involves a lot more orchestrating than I had originally planned. Dogs need to be boarded, truck needs to be rented, hotel reservations, tent rental, plus 100+ small details that are just boring. making sure to have enough business cards, newspaper to wrap stuff, train the husband on how to work The Square…
The latter will be the most difficult… Could take all month.
I am pretty happy with the collection that I have built up so far… all pretty cohesive. However, it is not necessarily pure farmhouse, or cottage. it has some farmhouse, some cottage, some primitive, some industrial, some eclectic euro. I have not idea what to call the collection.
Maybe ya’ll can think up what to call it!
(Please excuse the lighting and background of the pictures, my hoard is stashed in my parent’s basement because our house is so tiny right now)
