Another room design coming at ya for 2021!
This week I’ve been working on a space that, I feel, could age with a young girl through her teenage years.
I tried to keep the colors in a gender neutral palette but the overall design still leans feminine.
Once again starting with a fresh base of Benjamin Moore’s “Paper White” on the walls BUT…
Finishing one accent wall (preferably on the wall that the bed is anchored to) with Anthropologie’s Dashing Wallpaper in Mint.
Dashing Wallpaper in Mint $88 for a 27’L x 27″W roll
While I was looking for a wallpaper I stumble across this adorable design that I wanted to use in some way. Why not put it into a frame and call it wall art!?
Adam’s Eden Snowbird Wallpaper – $12 for a 8ʺL × 11ʺH Roll
Personally, I would go BIG on the frame. I found this large one on Etsy but I’m sure there are cheaper options out there.
22in x 28in Thin Natural Solid Wood Frame – $149.00
Also hanging on the wall is this floor mirror from Target.
Wood Floor Mirror – $110
For storage I chose this mid-century style dresser to balance out the more romantic features of the room.
Wether you are working with hardwood or carpet I would choose a rug with sunny, yellow accents to contrast with the cooler colors of the room.
6′ x 9′ Suzani Yellow Boho Rug – $299
For an extra little bit of storage I picked out this basket for toys, blankets, or dirty clothes.
13″ Coiled Rope Basket – $16
Time to make the bed! Starting off with this rattan headboard from IKEA.
Queen DELAKTIG rattan Headboard – $100.00
I don’t have children myself but I would assume that light color bedding probably isn’t the right move for younger kids or teens for that matter so I chose a darker bedding….
Duvet Cover Natural Loft Queen in Nightfall Navy – On sale for $68.39
And I layered it with this lighter colored quilt for extra depth.
Kasentex Reversible Quilt Set – $68.39
At this point the room has a lot of personality so I kept the throw pillows simple.
Rizzy Home Blue Throw Pillow – $17.90
I like my nightstands to have at least one drawer for storing Tylenol, chapstick, or a phone charger. This option from Walmart mirrors the mid-century modern lines of the dresser.
Topeakmart Modern Nightstand Table – $48.99
I wanted there to be as much surface space available to use on the nightstand so I chose to a wall sconce vs lamp. Instead of having to hire an electrician for installation try out this to DIY lighting hack for wall sconces called the “Magic Light Trick“. Very Kid friendly to use too!
And to finish it off I picked out a few faux plants for just a little extra color. These two options are more expensive but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen similar, cheaper options at Target.
Faux Snake – $125
Southwest Succulent Collection – 3 for $44.99
That is this week’s room design!
I don’t think it would look as busy once the rug is actually on the floor and not right beside the wall paper & artwork. You might not like the whole room but hopefully can pull some inspiration from it in some way or another.
I’ll be back next week with another!
